This is a really great result for the Mounties, and also their Raiders collaboration. I really hope they go on with it over the Cutters. We have great depth at the club at the moment. I'd love a bloke like Fensom to get a run around on Grand Final day in the curtain raiser.

Sam Williams' vision and anticipation in attack is deadset second to none in halves under 25 in rugby league IMO. He's small, a tad slow and doesn't have the biggest boot so he really polarizes fans. I've moved past hoping we sign him for our sake I just genuinely hope he forges a successful career because I think he truly belongs in first grade. He'd have improved several mid tier sides this season for mine, including Canterbury.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Canberra Raiders half Sam Williams guides Mounties to NSW Premiership Grand Final

Sam Williams led a fighting Mounties outfit to the 2016 Intrust Super Premiership NSW Grand Final, with a 24-18 victory over the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval.

The Tigers led 18-6 at half-time, but Mounties remained patient, calm and composed, and never panicked in their inspirational second half fight-back.

The conditions were horrid for the majority of the match, and while ball-control was never perfect, both sides adjusted to the weather to put one of the games of 2016.

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart praised for Mounties success

Mounties Intrust Super Premiership coach Steve Antonelli has praised Raiders mentor Ricky Stuart for his work in ensuring a positive relationship between the two clubs.

"Ricky's right behind the relationship. He checks on his blokes every week who come back and play for the Mounties from the NRL. He relies on me a lot for feedback," Antonelli said.

"If you didn't have a successful feeder club than a lot of NRL clubs would struggle and it's an extension that people don't see. All the little things [Stuart] does on the inside, people only see the outside picture.

Ricky Stuart’s Canberra Raiders rebuild behind Mounties grand day

RICKY Stuart’s rebuild of Canberra has gone beyond the nation’s capital, with the Raiders coach also credited for Mounties’ historic triple appearance in the NSWRL competition.

Mounties, who have been the Raiders’ feeder club since 2012, will have three teams in as many grades in Sunday’s NSWRL grand final day in Sydney.

“(Fensom’s) attitude is the best out of the lot of them. Him and Jeff Lima, and Jarrad Kennedy’s been there all year and the year before he played 24 NRL games.

By the way, the article is surely incorrect when it says that a single club has not been represented on a NSWRL Grand Final day since 1985. The Raiders did it in 1990, off the top of my head.

Didn't we win all 3 grades in 1990?

Shows that when there's depth is a club it is succeeding at all levels!

We lost reserves to the Broncos on the back of some very poor refereeing.

KEY CHANGES: Rhys Kennedy has again been named at prop with Paul Vaughan retaining his place in the NRL team. Glen Buttriss was a late inclusion last week after an extended absence with a pectoral injury on Sunday. He is again named on the bench. Pat Mataele and Sonny Bristow have also been named on the extended bench.

Mounties v Cutters: ISP Grand Final Preview

Mounties v Illawarra Cutters
Pirtek Stadium, Sunday 25 September
4:15pm
Broadcast LIVE on Fox Sports 501, SteeleSports.com.au and Hawkesbury 89.9 FM

It's very fitting that teams ranked one and two on the Intrust Super Premiership ladder will play off for a place in the NRL State Championship match on Sunday week.

But it wasn't a walk in the park for either team in progressing to the NSWRL decider.

Both the Mounties and the Cutters had to come from behind to win their preliminary finals over the Wests Tigers and Newtown Jets respectively.

Four Mounties, four Cutters and three Jets have been named in the 2016 Intrust Super Premiership NSW Team Of The Year, named ahead of the NSWRL’s Grand Final Day to be played at Pirtek Stadium this Sunday.

The team, selected by an expert panel including broadcast partners at Fox Sports Australia, Steele Sports, Hawkesbury Radio and Triple H FM, in addition to NSWRL.com.au staff writers, features eight players who will line up in the decider between Mounties and Illawarra.

1. Zac Santo (Mounties)
2. Kato Ottio (Mounties)
7. Sam Williams (Captain, Mounties)
12. Jarrad Kennedy (Mounties)

Assistant Coach: Steve Antonelli (Mounties)

That really is a slap in the face for Steve Antonelli. It would have been better just to announce one choice.

Especially if you look at their reasoning. The cutters have had these guys through a good chunk of the year and all have either played first grade this year or already had significant first grade experience:

1. Adam Quinlan
2. Kurt Mann
3. Taane Milne
5. Kalifa Faifai Loa
9. Josh McCrone
12. Jacob Host
13. Siliva Havili

They've all been added to the side that finished 10th last year.

It has been a great season for the Mounties. At face value it looks like a strong squad playing two strong seasons in a row (consecutive Minor Premiers and Grand Finalists), however when you look at the turn-over of players between 2015 and 2016, it is almost a new squad. See both Grand Final teams below. Antonelli (and the Raiders, of course) have done a fantastic job!

2015 - 1. Jack Ahearn 2. Stewart Mills 3. Mitchell Cronin 4. Jeremy Hawkins 5. Brenko Lee 6. Josh McCrone 7. Mitch Cornish 8. Kyle O'Donnell 9. Glen Buttriss 10. Mark Nicholls 11. Patrick Mago 12. Mitchell Barnett 13. Joel Edwards

14. Rhys Kennedy 15. Jeff Lynch 16. Sam Duggan 17. Clay Priest

2016 - 1. Zac Santo 2. Alofi Mataele 3. Brenko Lee 4. Brent Naden 5. Eddie Aiono 6. Maurice Kennedy 7. Sam Williams 8. Rhys Kennedy 9. Adam Clydsdale 10. Jeff Lima 11. Jarrad Kennedy 12. Scott Sorenson 13. Shaun Fensom

14. Willie Mataka 15. Glen Buttriss 16. Royce Hunt 17. Sam Duggan

NSW Premiership: Sam Williams looks to steer Canberra Raiders feeder club Mounties to glory

Canberra Raiders player Sam Williams will have travelled over 2040 kilometres inside four days leading up to the NSW Cup grand final on Sunday afternoon.

"Obviously you'd love to be playing in front of those big crowds but we're a pretty close group of mates up at Mounties and the coaching staff do a lot of good things for us, so it's just about going there and trying to perform well and do your best."
