That's a talented back line coming through:

1. Dylan Edwards (Penrith Panthers)
2. Nick Cotric (Canberra Raiders)
3. Curtis Scott (Melbourne Storm)
4. Latrell Mitchell (Sydney Roosters)
5. Bevan French (Parramatta Eels)
6. Mitchell Moses (Parramatta Eels)
7. Nathan Cleary (Penrith Panthers)
8. Daniel Saifiti (Newcastle Knights)
9. Jayden Brailey (Cronulla Sharks)
10. Tevita Pengai Jr. (Brisbane Broncos)
11. Tepai Moeroa (Parramatta Eels)
12. Angus Crichton (South Sydney Rabbitohs)
13. Victor Radley (Sydney Roosters)

14. Connor Watson (Newcastle Knights)
15. Cameron Murray (South Sydney Rabbitohs)
16. Moses Leota (Penrith Panthers)
17. Alex Twal (Wests Tigers)

Edit: Payne Haas should be in here somewhere. Maybe misses out on a year due to lack of experience.

Lachlan Croker? Come on. Did anyone even know this guy existed before he signed for Manly and became their back-up to their back-up 5/8?

Cotric named in Emerging Blues squad

Post by RTW » December 19, 2017, 10:18 am

@Zim you have to have a spot for Payne Haas. The kid is a monster and has a great work ethic on and off the field to go with it. I have seen him play for quite some time now and every year he just gets better and bigger!

The Broncos have another talented kid named David Fafita and these two are by far the best young forwards I have watched in a long time.

That was an oversight on Haas.

Absolute joke lol but they need to fill a certain never of spots with Manly players (or so it seems, there would be no other plausible explanation for that).

Looks like on of those 'every kid gets a prize' lists. A heap of guys there who haven't even played NRL yet.

NRL: Canberra Raiders star Nick Cotric named in Brad Fittler's Emerging Blues squad

Canberra Raiders young gun Nick Cotric has been named in Brad Fittler's Emerging Blues squad as he looks to stamp his name on the State of Origin radar.

Fittler has already dubbed Cotric a State of Origin bolter as the Blues brace for a massive shake-up in a bid to fight their way out of the Origin doldrums.

It seems that the Qld squad is under 20s from this season whereas the NSW squad more like under 22-23.

Good to see Tristan Sailor and Lachlan Lam get in the Qld squad.

Wollongong - that’s in Queensland.

Bondi - that’s in Queensland

Sorry - Bondi is in NSW - actually it is probably in NZ.

Clovelly - that’s in Queensland.

Lam is Born in Sydney, grew up in Sydney, lives in Sydney now, has only ever played junior reps for a Sydney Club but some how qualifies for Qld due to his PNG born father.

Queensland’s EVERYWHERE so much so that the desendents of this massacre of state borders are also Queenslanders!!

Adrian Lam was ruled eligible for Queensland by the ARL. Those were the eligibility rules of the time. Complain to Ken Arthurson and John Quayle if you don’t like it.

So if Lachlan Lam plays for Queensland and lives all his life in NSW and has a son, he would also play for Qld?

Surely you can’t be a descendent of a descendent.

Even the Queenslander!! chant (as if something could be more inane than Aussie Oi, Oi, Oi) is from someone born in Tenterfield - in NSW!!

Perhaps Peter Allen was signing about Billy Moore when he sung “i’m Just a traveller, a Tenterfield saddler”

Yes he can play rugby league for QLD...QLD is everywhere.

As it turns out if the place you were born has any of the letters that form the word QUEENSLAND you play for QLD. If you prefer the colour maroon over the colour blue you can play for QLD. If you were born in Bowralville and went to school in Newcastle you can play for QLD.

QLD is everywhere..

Of course this has happened before with Matt Rogers - a guy who represented Australia in a Rugby World Cup final as a NSW Waratah.

As a person who has only lived in VIC and ACT I don’t care who wins. Under RL rules I am actually eligible for England as well as Australia but somehow I must qualify for Qld.

Moonee Ponds - is that in Queensland????

Maybe you missed this, but rugby union doesn’t have Origin.

There are clear eligibility criteria that seem satisfy the vast majority of the rugby league community... but doesn’t satisfy the Mexican in our midst!

It would nonsensical seeing the sons of Sailor and Lam in NSW colours. This is a very good rule, one embraced by almost the entire world of rugby league... except the occasional Victorian!

Cotric, Crichton and Cleary should all be in the frame over the next year or two. As for the rest of the NSW squad, not consistent enough to be considered for origin.

If all three improve on 2017 they'll be in the frame for SOO.

Big Mal & Artie Beetson- or do they not count as pre-NRL?
